In the SLC Airport, a missionary mom working at the counter texted me this photo and video! She knows how happy moms are to get pictures of their missionary.
Rachel called home from SLC and told me about her last days at the MTC and how excited she was to be on her way to Italy! (Missionaries can call home from the airport layover, plus on Mother's Day and Christmas)
Text from her layover in Texas: Hey mom it's Rachel! We're about to take off to Milano! I don't get a chance to call again but I love you and I'm not dead yet!

Rachel didn't get a chance to e-mail the week she arrived in Italy, but I received a phone call from a missionary in the Milan mission office, telling me she arrived safely. And the amazing mission blog features many of these photos of the arrival of Sorella Riley with the other 8 new missionaries:
