Torino 34 - Mexican Food 🌮
We got fed tacos and nachos on two separate occasions this week! Heck yeah!
We had a blitz with the zone. We planned it a while ago, and the Capi (ZLs) refused to cancel or move it despite the snow and freezing cold. So we wandered around Centro trying to start conversations with people who were wet and cold, too. We took a focaccia break and buying the bread was the only legit conversation we had all day. I've realized that even though the finding we do may seem super ineffective and just a waste of time, it's not. Heavenly Father sees the work we're putting in and knows if we're doing what we can to share the gospel. Maybe our investigators will actually come through other means, though. For example, our Anziani complain that the only people who are interested are women. Too bad they have to be passed to us :)
I love teaching lessons. It is just the best thing ever!
I'm going to share with y'all a lesson we had with Morena. We wanted her to really get to know Jesus Christ so she can love Him and have faith in Him. We chose four of our favorite scriptures to read together:
3 Nephi 11:9-11 - 9 And it came to pass that he stretched forth his hand and spake unto the people, saying: 10 Behold, I am Jesus Christ, whom the prophets testified shall come into the world. 11 And behold, I am the light and the life of the world; and I have drunk out of that bitter cup which the Father hath given me, and have glorified the Father in taking upon me the sins of the world, in the which I have suffered the will of the Father in all things from the beginning.
2 Nephi 26:24-28 - 24 He doeth not anything save it be for the benefit of the world; for he loveth the world, even that he layeth down his own life that he may draw all men unto him. Wherefore, he commandeth none that they shall not partake of his salvation. 25 Behold, doth he cry unto any, saying: Depart from me? Behold, I say unto you, Nay; but he saith: Come unto me all ye ends of the earth, buy milk and honey, without money and without price. 26 Behold, hath he commanded any that they should depart out of the synagogues, or out of the houses of worship? Behold, I say unto you, Nay. 27 Hath he commanded any that they should not partake of his salvation? Behold I say unto you, Nay; but he hath given it free for all men; and he hath commanded his people that they should persuade all men to repentance. 28 Behold, hath the Lord commanded any that they should not partake of his goodness? Behold I say unto you, Nay; but all men are privileged the one like unto the other, and none are forbidden.
Alma 7:11-14 - 11 And he shall go forth, suffering pains and afflictions and temptations of every kind; and this that the word might be fulfilled which saith he will take upon him the pains and the sicknesses of his people. 12 And he will take upon him death, that he may loose the bands of death which bind his people; and he will take upon him their infirmities, that his bowels may be filled with mercy, according to the flesh, that he may know according to the flesh how to succor his people according to their infirmities. 13 Now the Spirit knoweth all things; nevertheless the Son of God suffereth according to the flesh that he might take upon him the sins of his people, that he might blot out their transgressions according to the power of his deliverance; and now behold, this is the testimony which is in me. 14 Now I say unto you that ye must repent, and be born again; for the Spirit saith if ye are not born again ye cannot inherit the kingdom of heaven; therefore come and be baptized unto repentance, that ye may be washed from your sins, that ye may have faith on the Lamb of God, who taketh away the sins of the world, who is mighty to save and to cleanse from all unrighteousness.
1 John 2:1 - My little children, these things write I unto you, that ye sin not. And if any man sin, we have an advocate with the Father, Jesus Christ the righteous:
That last one is my absolute favorite. Jesus is our advocate with the Father. I loved explaining to Morena what it will be like when we are at the final judgment. Her face lit up as she realized what the title of advocate actually meant. Jesus is on our side. He is perfect and can not lose.
My challenge for y'all is to read those scriptures and think about who Christ really is. Then find more scriptures. Then send me your favorite and tell me why. I want to hear from everyone!
I love y'all!
