Week 26 - Torino

first Pizza in Torino!

Hilarious Joke Ahead

How is Germany taking over Italy?
A Lidl at a time.

Haha I hope you're laughing but if not I sure am. (Lidl is a German grocery store)

There are so many Lidls in Torino and since they're German they sell lebkuchen! (Christmas cookies, similar to large soft gingerbread cookies, that we ate while living in Germany when Rachel was 6-9 years old) Like every variety you could ever think of! I'm in heaven and of course we are trying every single type.

We thought it would be fun to dress up for district meeting, it being Halloween and all. So we all put on one of Sorella Lewis's floral, old lady summer dresses and did braids or buns and went as "sister-wives". None of the Anziani even noticed anything and when we finally explained that we had a costume and told them what we were, they weren't amused. But we all thought we were hilarious so that's what counts, right?

We had a calcetto (table-soccer) tournament and so far Anz. Jacobsen and I are undefeated so we'll take on any team brave enough to try! Shout out to my big bro Isaac for teaching me the art of slamming the ball into the goal.

We tried to do "hymn finding" in the station, with some of the zone. There's a piano for anyone to go play on, so we were going to play/sing hymns and pass out bigliettini. But when we got there, there was already a prodigy performing and drawing a crowd. After taking advantage of the crowd, we were soon kicked out of the station for handing out unapproved advertisement inside. Can't win 'em all.

We now have one investigator, thanks to a pass-off lesson with the Anziani.

We've had a few visits with members and so far they are all wonderful!

Sorella Seymour gives great back massages AND she gave me cornrows :) but no, I didn't go out in public with them.

On Sunday, Our Bishop taught 3rd hour about Bonnie L. Oscarson's talk this last conference. "The Needs Before Us". I'm gonna challenge all of you to go read it and think about it. She talks about how we go to church and activities to lift others. It's not about what we gain from it, it's about how we can help others. Great reminder to turn outwards! https://www.lds.org/general-conference/2017/10/the-needs-before-us?lang=eng

I love you all! Happy All-Saints Day!

Sorella Rachel Riley
English class costumes (elders and sisters switched nametags) & teaching Halloween vocab

& the Anziani's cool investigator / Rachel's comp holding spicy peppers: I still eat them

cute thing in Centro

"chicken chicken" with the fam (am I the only one who thinks Rachel and her comp look like twins?)

This P-day: exploring Torino and you guys it's chestnut season which means every corner has people selling roasted chestnuts and they are so good

Sor. Burgess taught us how to make a Peruvian dish: papa di rejenas (chicken wrapped in mashed potatoes, breaded and fried)
